This rare sweatshirt is from an era when fabric was made in a way that mimicked knitting wool.
It is made by manufacturing pique knit on a loopwheel knitting machine, then applying a brushed lining. Furthermore, it uses a technique called yarn dyeing, where the yarn is dyed before the fabric is knitted, rather than dyeing the fabric itself. This creates a unique flicker on the surface and an attractive uneven texture.
This is a rare 1930s heathered sweatshirt made with the same method as pre-dyed gray and oatmeal.
