Collection: Orgueil

"An era when clothes were tools for everyday survival, not just for fashion." Every piece of clothing had a meaning. There were functions and roles that are no longer necessary in modern times. The pieces created by Orgueil are designed based on European and American vintage clothing from the late 19th to early 20th centuries.
We not only draw from vintage clothing itself, but also from historical materials such as photographs, advertisements, newspapers, and letters from the time. Based on the historical context gleaned from these materials, we re-examine the clothing of that period from a modern perspective and reconstruct it with a contemporary sensibility.
So why do we spend so much time and effort analyzing historical materials and purposely reproducing old items? What is the appeal of vintage clothing?
In an age of mass production and consumption, modern clothing is all well-proportioned, streamlined, and precisely crafted. This can also be described as uniform, two-dimensional, and mechanical.
What we idealize is uneven, retains a certain roughness, and has an element of inefficiency.
However, we are convinced that within this lies a three-dimensional quality, warmth, and a unique specialness that brings to mind the faces of the creators and those involved in its production.
Clothing that acts as a bridge connecting those who create and those who receive it.
This is our ideal of craftsmanship, and the value we find in vintage clothing.
The items Orgueil delivers to you will possess a power and impressiveness that sets them apart from the ordinary, yet will also be somehow warm and approachable. This is precisely the characteristic found in the vintage clothing that serves as the wellspring of our designs.

Commitment to Quality

Orgueil items are made in Japan by skilled craftsmen at carefully selected factories. Carefully selected materials from famous production regions in Japan and around the world are finished by Japanese craftsmen.
The best materials are finished with the best techniques. In an atmosphere of constant tension and intersecting pride among the craftsmen, world-renowned "Japan-made" products are born.
It is not uncommon for machines more than half a century old to be used in the manufacturing process of Orgueil items and the materials used in them. There are few craftsmen who can operate them, and advanced skills are required. Moreover, the machines themselves are delicate and fragile, and it takes an enormous amount of time and effort to maintain them while producing a single material or item. For example, weaving selvedge denim requires old-fashioned shuttle looms. Some of these shuttle looms are more than 50 years old, and only a handful of craftsmen can operate them. However, fabrics woven on such looms have a distinct power and texture that is clearly different from mass-produced types.
We create items using inefficient methods that may not be understood from an efficiency-focused perspective, but this is done to achieve a quality that cannot be compromised. Therefore, not many items are produced. However, for those who acquire them, they are sure to become special and irreplaceable pieces.
