A rare sweatshirt from an era when fabric was made in a way similar to knitting wool. This item is made by first manufacturing pique stitch fabric on a loopwheel knitting machine, then brushing the裏起毛 (ura-kimo/back pile). Furthermore, it undergoes "hanzome," a process where the yarn is dyed before weaving the fabric, rather than dyeing the fabric itself. This creates a unique speckled appearance on the surface and an appealing uneven texture. This is a rare 1930s mottled sweatshirt made with the same method as pre-dyed gray and oatmeal.
