■WAREHOUSE Lot 3104 Plaid Long Sleeve Flannel Shirt - Pattern A
![]() Lot 3104 FLANNEL SHIRTS - Pattern A Plaid Flannel Shirt Warehouse flannel shirts are made using power looms, which are only found in a limited number of regions in Japan. The reason for using power looms to make flannel fabric is not simply to create "selvedge flannel fabric." The selvedge is merely a byproduct. The actual purpose is that using power looms allows the fabric to be finished without compromising the texture of slub yarn. Just like denim, the yarn used to weave vintage flannel shirt fabric was inconsistent slub yarn. If that yarn were woven with strong tension on an innovative loom, it would result in a different fabric. The inherent properties of the yarn would be lost. By weaving with old-fashioned power looms, the fabric can be woven without losing the inherent unevenness of the yarn. The power loom used to weave flannel shirts is the same twill loom used for denim. Flannel shirts require a pattern, so the mechanism allows for weaving with multiple colors of thread. The warp threads move up and down intricately according to the pattern, and shuttles carrying different colored weft threads move back and forth, replacing each other in rapid succession. In this way, flannel woven with the appropriate tension characteristic of power looms becomes fabric without losing the inherent inconsistencies of each thread. The finished flannel fabric is brushed on the back, following the manufacturing methods of the time. Brushing creates a soft texture in the pattern. Furthermore, brushing adds fullness to the fabric, enhancing the already soft feel unique to power loom weaving. Thus, flannel woven on power looms has a texture that can only be created by replicating the yarn itself. The simplest way to identify this is by the presence or absence of selvedge, and just like vintage flannel shirts from around the 1960s, Warehouse also uses selvedge in the gusset. ※The following shrinkage will occur after washing: Length: Approx. 2-3cm, Shoulder width: Approx. 1cm, Chest width: Approx. 2cm, Sleeve length: Approx. 2cm Weight: 620g ![]() Since its establishment in 1995, WAREHOUSE has pursued the theme of "faithful reproduction of vintage clothing," never being swayed by trends in the fashion industry.
