Chromexcel leather from Horween, an established American tannery, is made using traditional methods of chrome and vegetable tanning. It is rich in oil, making it supple and quick to break in. Although it is prone to minor scratches, these quickly become less noticeable after brushing the leather or applying oil. Another appealing feature is that it is "hill-dyed," meaning only the surface is colored, so the natural core of the leather shows through with use.

The size is free size and made to be long. It's styled to be worn with the tip hanging down loosely. Both the parts and studs are made of brass, which also develops a rich patina with use.
