■UES Extra Heavy Check Flannel Long Sleeve Shirt 502451
![]() <Model: Height 175cm, Weight 62kg, wearing size 2 (M)> This yarn-dyed check shirt weighs over 15 ounces. The UES original selvage fabric, despite being 100% cotton, features a wool-like volume and deep colors. Because the fabric is woven with extremely thick threads, the number of looms available in Japan that can handle this is limited. Furthermore, due to the use of old-style shuttle looms, the annual production volume is also limited, making this a rare fabric. Old-style looms are used to gently weave the fabric without pulling the warp threads excessively, in order to bring out the natural texture of the yarn. While this slows down production, it allows for the creation of soft and voluminous fabric. The shirt hem is piped, intended to be worn untucked. Since the fabric is woven using power looms, the fabric's selvage can be seen on the folded-back left front edge of the front body. Even in Japan, which is well-regarded for its selvage fabrics, there are only a few shuttle looms capable of weaving such thick fabric, making this a truly rare product. Regarding the fabric pattern, the check pattern is enlarged to give it an outerwear feel. When cutting the parts, skilled craftsmen work in teams to match the patterns. The larger the pattern, the more fabric is required for one garment. Matching the patterns results in a beautiful finished appearance. The attention to detail extends to the buttons. These are horn buttons carved from buffalo horn. While they may be less durable than resin buttons, they are adopted for their superior color and texture. Based on a black color scheme, they range from dark to light brown, and no two are alike. Some may even have slight chips, but we hope you will appreciate these as characteristics of natural materials. A spare button is sewn onto the care label; please remove and store it. ![]() UES started in 1997 with the opening of an antenna shop in Kobe. The name UES comes from "waste," referring to discarded items, scraps, and trash. In Japan, rags used to clean machines in ironworks and maintenance shops (recycled old clothes) have traditionally been called "UES." We create products with the hope that they will be utilized to the very end (until they become UES), rather than sleeping in a closet before fulfilling their purpose. ![]() ![]() Orange ![]() Blue ![]() Olive
