Based on a design from the mid-1950s, this piece depicts an eagle spreading its wings as it prepares to take flight from the waves.
The dynamism of the splashing waves and the fiercely flapping eagle, expressed only with black and off-white embroidery threads, makes it appear almost like an ink painting.
The oriental "JAPAN" typeface is also rare for a vintage item.
