■ Tailor Toyo Reversible Vietnam Jacket “VIETNAM TIGER” × “VIETNAM MAP” TT15979

A custom-ordered jacket made by a US soldier stationed in Saigon, Vietnam in 1962.
The chest features "HAPPINESS" instead of the kanji "福" (fuku), with a design of the US flag and the South Vietnamese military flag crossed.
The back has a moderately stylized tiger drawing.
The reversible side features a map pattern design with strikingly vivid embroidery thread, and uses an original liner fabric printed with tiger stripes.

VIETNAM JACKET

Similar to Sukajan (souvenir jackets) born in post-war Japan, souvenir jackets born during the Vietnam War from the 1960s to 1970s are commonly known as Vietnam jackets.
They primarily used two types of fabric: cotton twill or camouflage-patterned poncho liner, and designs were embroidered with thick, matte colored threads.
