■Tailor Toyo Reversible Acetate Satin Sukajan Jacket ROARING TIGER × EAGLE Embroidery TT15972-119

This jacket recreates a piece from the early 1950s that was newly acquired in recent years. It is a color version made using the same embroidery pattern as the monochrome tiger that Tailor Toyo has previously reproduced, and this original piece is older. The original artwork is faithfully depicted in the embroidery, so among the many tiger patterns, this one has a particularly large number of stripes, and the red lines around the bloodshot eyes are also a distinctive feature.

The reversible side of this piece also adheres to vintage specifications, depicting an eagle about to take flight from a cherry blossom tree, rendered in colorful threads. The chest embroidery features Japanese landscapes of Mt. Fuji and pine trees. Since the original embroidery was positioned slightly lower than usual, that balance has also been reproduced. The tricolor ribbing provides an accent against the navy body.

The most standard type of souvenir jacket is the reversible one, with acetate fabric on both sides. In the post-war era, acetate, which had a luxurious feel similar to silk and was not subject to material controls, was used for sukajan. As there is no batting, it can be worn in any season, and its unique drape is also an attractive feature.
