■Tailor Toyo Vietnam Jacket, Sukajan, VIETNAM PANTHER, Mid-1960s, Embroidered Cotton Jumper TT15796
 A custom-made piece for a US soldier stationed at Cam Ranh Bay, a city in southern Vietnam, in the mid-1960s. The back features a stylized panther face. Most existing Vietnam jackets have map designs, making pieces with this kind of embroidery rare. The right chest depicts a Vietnamese landscape, the left chest has the three characters "福禄寿" (Fukurokuju - usually just "福" for Fuku), and the dragons on the sleeves are also larger than on other Vietnam jackets. This reproduction is based on a very rare vintage piece. VIETNAM JACKET Similar to sukajan, which originated in post-war Japan, "Vietnam jackets" are souvenir jackets that emerged during the Vietnam War from the 1960s to the 1970s. They are mainly made from two types of fabric: cotton twill or camouflage poncho liner, and designs are embroidered with matte, thick colored threads.
