 Model: 175cm tall, 62kg, wearing size L This is Tailor Toyo's limited edition, to be released for New Year 2025. In honor of the Year of the Snake, this jacket revives the extremely rare "Snake and Skull" design, which holds unparalleled scarcity value in the world of vintage souvenir jackets. This design, commonly known as "Hebidokuro" (Snake and Skull), depicts a venomous snake baring its fangs and threatening a skull. There are very few surviving vintage examples, and they are traded at unbelievable prices in the market. Among them, this "Snake and Skull" pattern, made in the mid-1950s with a rising dragon on the sleeves, is particularly rare and highly coveted by collectors. While some skull patterns feature colorful embroidery threads, this piece uses light, white-based threads for an overall sophisticated monochrome finish that highlights the contrast with the jet-black velvet fabric. Another characteristic is that the crossbones are longer compared to other skull patterns, faithfully reproducing not only the design but also the needlework (stitching) based on valuable vintage pieces. The reversible side features a dragon and tiger battle. The motif depicts a dragon coiling around a tiger with its long body, peeking out from behind Mount Fuji, a grand and unparalleled scene. Furthermore, the red lightning bolt between the two glaring creatures suggests an intense battle. The chest features an eagle embroidery, completing the three major motifs of souvenir jackets: eagle, tiger, and dragon, making both sides a very luxurious combination. ＜VELVETEEN SOUVENIR JACKET＞ Early souvenir jackets were often reversible with acetate fabric, but as a variation at the time, models using velour fabric with a napped texture also existed. The padding was added for warmth, and the acetate on the reversible side was quilted to hold the padding in place.
