 Model: Height 175cm, Weight 62kg, wearing L This is a mid-1950s piece with a powerful roaring tiger baring its fangs on a black velvet base. The realistic portrayal of the tiger's muscular body is achieved through fine, narrow-pitch embroidery, a feat only possible for highly skilled artisans. The ascending dragon on the sleeves is longer than usual, a rare feature even in vintage pieces. The reversible side features a white eagle design on blue acetate, reminiscent of a clear sky. The number of colored threads used is minimized, and the eagle spreading its wings is depicted solely through stitches. In contrast to the densely embroidered eagle, the delicate lines of the pine branches, which utilize the fabric color, and the balance of negative space create a highly artistic piece, similar to a Japanese painting. Many early souvenir jackets were reversible with acetate fabric, but as a variation at the time, models using napped velveteen fabric also existed. Padding was added to enhance warmth, and the reversible acetate side was quilted to hold the padding in place.
