This piece embodies TOYS McCOY's ideal design, details, and materials, selected from numerous A-2 jackets produced by various contractors between 1931 and 1943. The core of the design is based on the jacket worn by Steve McQueen in the movie "WAR LOVER." The 429th Fighter-Bomber Squadron (429FBS), established as a fighter squadron during World War II, was reactivated as a fighter-bomber squadron during the Korean War after a period of inactivity, once again engaging in conflict. Given the large number of veteran airmen, A-2 jackets were custom-made to the specifications of this unit. Of particular note are the luxurious Marilyn Monroe motif, hand-drawn by Hiroshi Okamoto, as well as the leather SQ patch and the 5th Air Force leather craft patch. ＜ A-2 ＞ Development began on a light, functional jacket with a short length that wouldn't impede leg movement. After two years of research, the Type A-1, the first summer flight jacket made of leather, was completed in 1925 and adopted as a standard in 1927. Improvements were continuously made thereafter, and while the history of the A-2 flight jacket eventually closed, many pilots continued to wear this A-2 into battle. These jackets were their best friends, having fought through unimaginable battles with them, and were also proof of their survival through that era.
