 The M-43 service shoes, commonly known as "TYPE 3," worn by Steve McQueen throughout the movie "The Great Escape," have been fully reproduced from the last (shoe tree) to the leather. In addition to the highly skilled hand-sewn welted construction, the shoes pursue durability by driving 23 nails into the sole and 13 into the heel. While replicating the construction unique to military issues, this season's upper features oiled rough-out leather, vegetable-tanned by a long-established Italian tannery.
