During World War II, people on the home front, at the call of the Red Cross, sent handmade scarves and knit caps as comfort items to their husbands, boyfriends, fathers, and all American soldiers on the battlefield.
These knitted items, imbued with the hopes of those praying for their safety, must have been softer and warmer than the issued gear.
This product recreates the texture of those Red Cross knits using British Shetland wool.
Last year, the olive color was updated to Army Olive with a redder hue, and this season, black and maroon have been added as new colors to the lineup.
