■SUN SURF KEONI OF HAWAII AS A PHOTOGRAPHER by NICK CLEMENTS SS39536
![]() Model: Height 175cm, Weight 62kg, Wearing size L Men's File is a UK-based culture magazine that is overwhelmingly supported by vintage enthusiasts worldwide. Its founder and a photographer active mainly in Europe and the US is Nick Clements. He graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London and has worked as a photographer for fashion magazines such as VOGUE. He has also authored books on historical culture, including 'SIMULCRA' and 'The Best of Men's File'. He is also a collector who has been collecting vintage items for over 45 years, and he showcases people and things from all genres, such as denim, workwear, hot rods, classic cars, custom bikes, and surfing, with classic fashion as their theme, alongside vintage pieces. His works, which transcend the boundaries of art and fashion, have influenced many genres. This product's design is composed of carefully selected portraits from a series of works featuring model Casey Drabble, who is active mainly in Europe. The base design is what is commonly known as the "postcard pattern," which has existed since the early days of Aloha shirt history. Based on a vintage design that scattered numerous postcards to depict Hawaiian scenery on a shirt, Nick's work is used to create a modern arrangement. <KEONI OF HAWAII> In 1996, we at Sun Surf learned that John Meigs, a legendary textile designer who left his mark on the history of Hawaiian clothing, was still alive. We immediately visited him and found that he had unreleased works drawn in the 1940s. Based on those design drawings, the phantom series of works was commercialized under the name "Keoni of Hawaii," and John Meigs also resumed designing Aloha shirts. He even created new designs and supported the brand. However, due to his advanced age, the burden increased year by year, and after 2001, artists who sympathized with his aspirations began to create works. Title: "AS A PHOTOGRAPHER" Artist: NICK CLEMENTS Material: Rayon Fujiette Print: Overprint Design Pattern: Picture Print Buttons: Mother-of-pearl buttons Overprint This is a method of layering darker colors over lighter base colors. Compared to discharge printing, it allows for a wider range of colors, and the overlapping of colors at the boundaries creates beautiful gradations. It is suitable for realistic patterns like Japanese designs. Rayon Fujiette Rayon Fujiette is a plain weave fabric made with filament rayon in the warp and spun rayon in the weft. It combines the suppleness similar to Fuji silk with the unique texture of rayon. The fuzzy surface is also a characteristic of Fujiette. ![]() Sun Surf is Toyo Enterprise's specialty brand for Aloha shirts.
