 ＜Model: Height 175cm Weight 62kg Wearing size L＞ Hokusai's bird-and-flower paintings series featuring auspicious themes. Besides this "Turtle," there are also "Hawk with Cherry Blossoms," "Carp Ascending a Waterfall," "Cranes in Snowy Pines," and "Grazing Horses." This work depicts the flow of water swaying with a blue gradation diagonally crossing the screen, with a composition that looks down on three turtles drifting in the water. The lowest turtle, a "Minogame" (a turtle with moss on its shell), is a symbol of longevity, and alongside the parent turtle, baby and grandchild turtles are also depicted, representing family prosperity. This bird-and-flower painting series was produced as an alternative to auspicious hanging scrolls, in a long, narrow format called chodaiban. When you see the actual piece, Hokusai used indigo pigment for the blue parts of the water surface. Following this, a distinctive feature of this shirt is that it is printed using indigo pigment. Also, at that time, silver was used for the turtle's head, but as it was not suitable for a shirt, a silver pigment close to the actual color was used. ＜National Treasure of Japan＞ Focusing on Edo period painters, when Japanese culture and art expanded further, this series recreates the masterpieces of these great artists on the canvas of an aloha shirt, reviving the passion embedded in Japan's world-renowned designs.
