In the 1950s, when soldiers stationed in Japan enthusiastically ordered embroidered souvenir jackets, Hawaiian shirts also reached their heyday. Similarly, designs symbolizing Japan were incorporated into these shirts and gained popularity.
This piece from Hookano Sportswear, which produced many distinctive Japanese patterns, is a true representative of "Japanese-style Western clothing."
