 T-shirts and sweatshirts from before the 1960s are now referred to as vintage, and various brands use them as design sources. These were manufactured using fabric woven with an old-fashioned knitting machine called a "loopwheeled knitting machine," which knits fabric in a cylindrical shape. Currently, this knitting machine is only operational in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, in the entire world. Thanks to Studio D'Artisan's long-standing relationship with a factory in Wakayama, we release items made from loopwheeled fabric every season, which are very well-received by our customers. The unique texture created by using the "loopwheeled knitting machine," which was commonly used until the 1960s. This machine knits at a very slow speed, barely producing 1 meter of fabric in about an hour of operation. This slow knitting speed creates a thick, moderately uneven fabric that feels as if air is woven into it, recalling the texture of those days. For stitching, we use the Union Special, a masterpiece among sewing machines. With discharge printing and other details, this piece allows you to experience Studio D'Artisan's commitment to quality. At that time, the concept of vintage replica jeans, as they are called today, was almost non-existent in the Japanese jeans market. It is a pioneering brand that laid the foundation for manufacturing that pursued the dream of recreating the unique character of jeans, despite the efficiency driven by mass production.
