The GL3, a Toyota automatic loom made half a century ago, was one of Japan's earliest power looms. Since there are no replacement parts, the only way to maintain it is to scavenge parts from scrapped machines of the same model. Maintenance is labor-intensive, and it is an inefficient loom that can only weave 5 meters per hour. However, the denim woven with this GL3 has the ruggedness and wildness of denim from half a century ago, making it a unique loom capable of expressing denim for workwear. Studio D'Artisan's classic SD-1000 series 'GL3 series' utilizes the characteristics of this GL3 to the fullest extent, using denim made with Studio D'Artisan's original recipe in terms of yarn unevenness, yarn count, color, and warp and weft density. It possesses a unique unevenness and raw texture that cannot be achieved with modern denim, which is produced efficiently and uniformly. This is a confident work, completed after repeated test weaving without any compromise. The popular GL3 series now has an ecru version, where the yarn that makes up the fabric is not indigo-dyed, allowing you to enjoy the natural color of the yarn. Unlike indigo denim, this ecru denim jacket shows a different character, and with repeated wear, it offers a new way to enjoy denim. It can be worn as a set with the GL3 Ecru Regular Straight Jeans [SD-1001E].
