![]() Model Height 175cm, Weight 62kg, wearing size 30 These jeans use D'Artisan's original 13.5oz "Ishikawadai Denim." This meticulously crafted denim prioritizes texture and the faithful reproduction of history over efficiency. "Ishikawadai" refers to the oldest Japanese-made ring spinning machine still in operation today, manufactured by Ishikawa Seisakusho Co., Ltd. in 1953. There are no records from the manufacturer, but it is believed to be the oldest spinning machine currently operating in Japan. Compared to the latest ring spinning machines, its speed is about one-third, and it can only spin at a slow pace, resulting in low productivity. However, because it puts less stress on the cotton, it preserves the gentle texture inherent to the material and creates a unique unevenness, much like hand-spun yarn, that cannot be replicated by computers. The cotton used is commonly known as "Deep South Cotton," harvested from the Lower Rio Grande Valley in the southernmost part of Texas, bordering Mexico. This cotton, grown robustly on American soil, has high maturity, with each fiber possessing substantial thickness, firmness, and body. It is an ideal material for creating a rough and dry texture. To dye the warp indigo, a technique is employed to create unevenness in the indigo dye, similar to vintage denim from that era, by skipping the usual yarn scouring process to avoid damaging the unique texture of this cotton. To recreate denim from 1953, all processes are intentionally performed using low-tech methods. Products made with "Ishikawadai Denim," which uses yarn spun on the Ishikawadai machine, will undergo repeated aging and change over time with wear, breathing new life into them as a new generation of vintage wear. The silhouette is a wide straight cut based on 1940s jeans. Cotton thread is used for sewing, allowing you to enjoy the aging process as the denim fades. Silhouette: Loose Straight Ounce: 13.5oz Weight: 910g ![]() STUDIO D'ARTISAN, founded in 1979, carries the meaning of "artisan workshop." At that time, the concept of creating jeans, known today as vintage replicas, barely existed in the Japanese jeans market. It is a pioneering brand that laid the foundation for manufacturing that pursued the dream of reproducing the essence of jeans, in the shadow of efficiency aimed at mass production.
