The Mr. Freedom series is a collaboration between Sugar Cane and Christophe Loiron, owner of an LA boutique with many Hollywood celebrity clients. It is inspired by rare vintage overalls, especially "Union Special" (a Hawaiian apparel manufacturer founded in 1922), from the 1930s-40s. 11 oz selvedge 2x1 denim, dark indigo warp x gray weft, made in Japan. Complex pocket pattern. Exposed fabric selvedge throughout. Multi-slot bib pocket. Buckle-back cinch. Button fly, brass doughnut type. Contrast triple-stitch construction. Red bartack accents. Brass mfsc brand waist tack buttons. 1930s-style adjusting buckles. Ankle snap tabs (for cycling, etc.) Rear pockets locked into side seams with "M" stitching. Made in Japan. Born in Montpellier, Southern France in 1966. Due to his father's work, he spent his early childhood in Africa. After returning to France, he joined the French Navy. In the 1990s, he moved to America, inspired by stars such as Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Elvis Presley. After working as a buyer for American Rag Cie and others, he opened his own shop, PLASTIC JESUS, in 1995. Then in 2002, he opened MISTER FREEDOM, a vintage store and studio, in Hollywood. Designers in the fashion industry, as well as Hollywood movie stylists, visited his shop to see his selections, and it quickly became a famous shop. He is currently active as a designer, and his designs, which thoroughly understand vintage, have many fans. Weight: 860g  SUGAR CANE has been meticulously creating button-down wear for many years. It is a long-established vintage American casual wear brand of Toyo Enterprises, which also owns flight jacket and collectible Hawaiian shirt brands like Buzz Rickson's and Sun Surf.
