This rectangular grid pattern was created by sampling vintage Japanese indigo-dyed fabric for kimonos, retaining the thread quality and pattern. The warp threads are made with three colors, including indigo kasuri (ikat), and the weft threads are made with one color. The pattern is based on American work shirts with double flap pockets from the 1940s-1950s. Unusually for a work shirt, the chest flaps and pockets are installed with pattern matching.
