The checked fabric, inspired by the colors and patterns of two FIVE BROTHER work shirts (one blue, one red),
features an unusual herringbone twill weave instead of a regular twill, and is composed of 4 colors for the warp and 4 colors for the weft.
In the 1940s and 50s, various manufacturers sought to differentiate themselves from competitors and establish their uniqueness.
Marbled buttons crafted with multiple colors and gradient labels were also characteristic of the period.
