"The fabrics produced by the textile industry are as essential to winning this war as guns and ships." These are the words of a Rear Admiral of the Quartermaster Corps (QM) of the U.S. Navy during World War II. They were the largest buyers of textiles in the world at the time. Under the direction of the War Production Board, factories almost completely turned over civilian goods to the QM. For the factories, there were tremendous difficulties in converting production facilities from civilian to wartime use. In addition to converting to military fabrics such as herringbone and sanforized drill, they also considered using wider looms and needed to increase the number of available producers. In such circumstances, clothing manufacturers, forced to simplify due to material shortages, were greatly affected. "What did World War II do to denim?" We can infer this by understanding the situation at the time. The WPA labor employment project ceased in 1943 due to the expansion of military demand, but surplus fabrics and materials must have been repurposed for precious civilian goods at the time. This is because even denim looms were forced to be modified for military fabrics during this era. During the war, various fabrics were used, and such leftover fabric specifications were likely recommended as substitutes for pocket bag fabric. ・6.7 x 6.7 brown cotton blend pink selvedge WW2 denim ・Iron tack buttons ・Iron copper-plated rivets ・100% rayon yarn-dyed red piss name with lines ・Vegetable-tanned deerskin label ・Iron buckle ・MADE IN JAPAN Weight: 900g <NEW Vegetable-tanned deerskin label> The leather label has also been studied from period pieces, thinned to 0.9mm, and finished with vegetable tanning.
