50s HEAVY SWEATER

The highest quality, most popular classic set-in sweatshirt.
Cotton sweatshirts began to take shape in the 1930s and became widely available in the 1940s.

There are several types: the front V-type, which has a V-shaped insert called a gusset at the neck; the double V-type, which has gussets at both the front and back; set-in sleeves; and freedom sleeves.
The interesting variations and different textures of cotton knits mean there are dozens of types.

In the early 1950s, with technological advancements, new spinning machines became available on the market, making it possible to spin cotton faster and more efficiently.
It is said that the sweatshirt became even more widespread thanks to this spinning machine.

This spinning machine produced yarn with unique characteristics, namely a dry and stiff texture, which was inevitably reflected in the resulting cotton knit.
Deluxeware sweatshirts inherit these characteristics and aim for even higher quality.

Heavy loop-wheeled fabric knitted to its maximum density on a vintage loop-wheeler in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture.
The fabric is knitted at the maximum possible density on a vintage loop-wheeler at ultra-low speed, resulting in a unique texture, a dry feel, and exceptional warmth retention. Brushed lining.

From the Designer
Cotton sweatshirts have existed for nearly 80 years.
Back then, they served as underwear, training wear, and cold-weather clothing, but today they have become fashion.
However, the "sweatshirt" we envision is not merely about appearance; we find value in its functionality and intricate details.
By pursuing the essence of "authenticity" that transcends mere looks and evolving it, this is what it became.
We call this S101 series of sweatshirts, which we consider an evolution of a classic, an "impressive standard."

This pattern features gently sloped shoulders tailored to body types in their 30s and 40s, a curved armhole, a three-dimensional shape with ample front and back sections, a "set-in binder" to improve neck durability, and a "front V-gusset" reminiscent of the era.
