The taslan boot laces, made of densely woven nylon used in Red Wing boots,
are strong and resistant to deterioration.
They have excellent abrasion resistance and are easy to tie and untie.
Twisted nylon is also used for the core material,
increasing strength and preventing fraying.
Some boot laces use cotton for the core material to cut costs,
but this reduces strength, and the cotton wicks up moisture due to capillary action,
which can lead to water seeping inside the boots.
