 In 1952, Red Wing Shoes first introduced a men's boot for work and hunting purposes, the 8-inch #877, which featured a white, flat, and highly cushioned Traction Tred sole. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, various variations emerged, including the 6-inch #875. The #875, along with the #877, gained immense popularity among workers and became a representative work boot in America, thanks to its ease of wear, such as the moccasin-type toe (Moc Toe), the Traction Tred sole that allows for easy walking in any environment and prevents fatigue even after long hours of wear, and the functionality and durability provided by high-quality leather and robust construction. It continues to be cherished as a flagship Red Wing boot even after more than 70 years. The chocolate-colored Muleskinner leather used in these boots is an oil-impregnated roughout leather, which offers a deeper texture and unique color variation compared to dry-tanned roughout leather that is not impregnated with oil. Red Wing's roughout leather is made by simply turning full-grain leather inside out, so the grain (the surface of the leather), which has a high fiber density, is used as the inner surface without processing. This makes scratches less noticeable and, since the grain of the leather is not exposed to the outside, it also offers strong resistance to natural elements like rain. It is uncompromising leather that can be maintained with minimal care. Red Wing products can continue to receive repairs at the manufacturer's head office.  ■Traction Tred Cushion Wedge In 1958, this sole was developed to further enhance grip while retaining the arch support and lightweight performance of the Cushion Crepe sole used in the Irish Setter. This sole gained strong support primarily from workers in construction sites, especially those working at high altitudes. In addition to ease of wear, the flat sole without protrusions freed them from the anxiety of tripping by catching their heels on scaffolding at high places.  ■Chocolate "Muleskinner" Roughout Muleskinner leather is roughout leather, and its basic care involves using the rubber bar (which can be used like an eraser to rub off dirt) and brush (to raise the nap of napped leather) from the "Roughout/Nubuck Cleaner Kit". This Muleskinner contains oil, but frequent oil replenishment is not necessary. However, if the oil in this leather starts to dry out, apply "Leather Cream" to a cloth and gradually press it into the leather to impregnate it with oil, making the leather feel supple. It takes a considerable amount of time to oil napped leather, so please be patient. Also, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold on your boots. Please use a Red Wing "Brush" made of long horsehair, which is highly effective in sweeping away dust.
