 In 1952, Red Wing Shoes first introduced a cushioned, flat-bottomed Traction Tred sole to men's work and hunting boots. This was the 8-inch boot #877. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, a variety of variations emerged. The 6-inch #875 was one of them. The moccasin-type toe (moc toe) makes it easy to wear. The Traction Tred sole makes it easy to walk on any surface and prevents fatigue even after long hours of wear. Furthermore, with the functionality and durability provided by high-quality leather and sturdy construction, the #875, along with the #877, gained immense support from workers, becoming a representative American work boot, and even after about 65 years, it continues to be loved as a flagship Red Wing boot. The leather used is Dusty Blue "Abilene" roughout, a smoky pastel color. This pair, with its refreshing and spring-like feel amidst a calm demeanor, is a valuable accent to any outfit. Red Wing's roughout leather is made by simply turning full-grain leather inside out, so the grain side (the surface of the leather) with its high fiber density is used on the inside without further processing. Scratches are less noticeable, and since the grain of the leather is not exposed to the outside, it is resistant to natural environments such as rain, making it a no-compromise leather that can be maintained with minimal care. Red Wing products can continue to receive repairs at the manufacturer's headquarters.  ■Traction Tred Cushion Wedge This sole was developed in 1958 to enhance grip while maintaining the arch support and lightweight performance of the cushion crepe sole used in Irish Setters. This sole was highly favored by workers, particularly those working at heights on construction sites. In addition to its ease of wear, the flat, snag-free sole freed them from the fear of tripping over protruding heels on scaffolding at high altitudes.  ■Dusty Blue "Abilene" Roughout Abilene leather, a roughout leather, is a dry-tanned leather made without oil. It is designed to maintain its suppleness without the need for oil, so oiling is not necessary. For care of the napped surface, use the rubber bar (eraser type) included in the "Roughout/Nubuck Cleaner Kit" to remove surface dirt, and then use the accompanying brush to raise the nap of the leather surface. If wearing on rainy days, you can spray "Leather Protector" beforehand to give it water repellency and prevent dirt from seeping in. Regular brushing is also effective in preventing dirt and mold on your boots. Please use a Red Wing "Brush" made of long horsehair, which is highly effective at sweeping away dust.
