■REDWING CLASSIC WORK 6" ROUND TOE Hawthorn "Abilene" Roughout Lot.8167
![]() A standard model made on the traditional last (shoe mold) used since the company's founding! Red Wing Shoe Company, founded in 1905, began manufacturing 6-inch round toe boots as basic work boots shortly after its establishment. The Classic Round is the result of the evolution of these 6-inch round toe boots over a long history. First, in the late 1940s, the two pieces of leather that were sewn together at the heel on both sides of the ankle were replaced with a seamless back, where a single piece of leather gently wrapped around the ankle from the heel side, providing a soft and comfortable feel. In 1953, a model was released featuring a sole that Red Wing had introduced to men's work and hunting boots the previous year, which had received a great response. This was the white, flat-bottomed, highly cushioned Traction Tred sole. These boots, #766, which were easy to wear and comfortable on any surface, were sold in the United States for a long time thereafter, but were discontinued in 1984. In the Japanese market, #8165 and #8166, based on #766, became popular in the late 1980s, and #8167, made with Hawthorne Abilene, a beige roughout leather, was created to expand the variation. This leather was mainly used for Western-style boots like Pecos boots and outdoor boots in the United States at the time. Unlike many suede leathers, which are made by thinly slicing the napped surface of the leather, roughout leather uses the grain side (leather surface), which has the highest fiber density, on the inside and the napped side on the outside, meaning the leather is used inside out. It was originally often used for outdoor footwear. This leather allows for enjoyable aging, where dirt and wear acquire a deep, rich character over time. Red Wing products can be repaired at the manufacturer's headquarters for a long time to come. In addition to sole replacement, they offer repairs for restitching, reattaching hardware, and as many other repairs as possible. Please contact us for repair inquiries. <注意事項> Please note that these are leather products and may have wrinkles characteristic of genuine leather. Please purchase with this understanding. Total weight including box: 1780g ![]() One of the most famous boot manufacturers in the world, founded in 1905. It has created various innovative technologies and designs that form the basis of modern work boots, establishing itself as a top brand to this day. It is one of the rare manufacturers in the world that owns a tannery to produce the leather used in its own shoes. The products sold in our store are not parallel imports, but are sourced through official channels via Red Wing Japan Co., Ltd., which is responsible for official imports and sales in Japan. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ■LAST NO.8 The exact date of development for this last is not precisely known, but it was already in use in boots from the 1940s. It is considered to be the oldest last still used by Red Wing today. This last, with ample thickness in the toe box, prevents unnecessary constriction and pressure on the toes, making it suitable for many models. It is also designed to enhance the fit around the arch of the foot. ![]() ■Traction Tred Cushion Wedge In 1958, this sole was developed to further enhance grip while retaining the arch support and lightweight performance of the cushion crepe sole adopted for Irish Setter boots. This sole gained high popularity among workers, especially those working at heights in construction sites. In addition to its ease of wear, its flat, snag-free sole liberated them from the fear of tripping over their heels on scaffolding at high altitudes. ![]() ■Hawthorne "Abilene" Roughout Abilene roughout leather is a dry-tanned leather made without oil. It is designed to maintain flexibility without the need for oil, so oiling is not required. For care of the napped surface, use the rubber bar (eraser type) included in the "Roughout/Nubuck Cleaner Kit" to remove surface dirt, then use the brush also included to raise the nap on the leather surface. Additionally, when wearing them on rainy days, you can apply "Leather Protector" beforehand to provide water repellency and prevent dirt from soaking in. Regular brushing is also effective in preventing dirt and mold on your boots. Please use a Red Wing "brush" made of long horsehair, which is highly effective at sweeping away dust.
