■REDWING 8" Logger Boots Briar "Oil-Slick" Style No.4585
![]() Loggers are men who engage in demanding work deep in the mountains, cutting down giant trees with chainsaws, milling them, and transporting them down the mountain with heavy machinery. Red Wing, which had been developing specialized shoe designs for various types of workers early on, developed the base boot for logger boots in the early 1940s. These are heavy-duty work boots with a thick leather upper that laces up to the calf to protect the ankle, a steel toe to protect the toes from accidents such as falling logs, a large outpocket to secure the large heel counter that cradles the heel, and a curved heel that provides traction when descending mountain slopes. Logger boots are clearly over-engineered for city wear, but this logger boot is a modern refinement of the logger, based on the #899 8-inch round-toe boot, which first featured a Vibram sole in 1961. It is designed to be easy to wear and coordinate in urban settings. While this particular logger boot is making its debut in Japan, the #4585 was previously released as a European-exclusive model and has been revived at the request of the European market for Red Wing's 120th anniversary. Red Wing products can always be repaired at the manufacturer's headquarters. In addition to sole replacement, they offer repairs for restitching, reattaching hardware, and more, as much as possible. Please contact our store for repair inquiries. There may be wrinkles unique to genuine leather, but please understand this is characteristic of leather products before purchasing. Total weight including box: 2310g ![]() One of the world's most famous boot manufacturers, founded in 1905. It has created various innovative technologies and designs that form the basis of modern work boots and has established itself as a top brand to this day. It is one of the rare manufacturers in the world that owns its own tannery to produce the leather used in its shoes. The products sold in our store are not parallel imports, but are sourced through official channels via Red Wing Japan Co., Ltd., which handles official import and sales in Japan. ![]() ![]() ![]() ■LAST NO.8 The exact year this last was developed is unknown, but it was already in use in boots from the 1940s. It is believed to be the oldest last still used by Red Wing. This last, with ample thickness at the toe, does not constrict the toes or cause pressure, making it suitable for many models. It is also designed to enhance the fit around the arch. ![]() ■Vibram TC4 Plus Lug The outsole features Vibram TC4 Plus Lug, which offers high slip resistance and improved comfort due to its soft sole. With a storm welt to further prevent water penetration, an 8-inch height for secure ankle support, and a beautifully rounded toe, this boot offers high-spec features for a fashion-oriented boot. A new logger boot has been born with modern appeal. ![]() ■Briar "Oil-Slick" As the name suggests, Oil-Slick is a leather rich in oil. Frequent oil application is not necessary, but if the leather surface starts to dry out over time, apply a thin layer of "Mink Oil" or "All Natural Leather Conditioner". It is recommended to wipe off any remaining oil from the leather surface with a dry cloth after about 30 minutes. Regular brushing is also effective in preventing dirt and mold on your boots. Please use Red Wing's "Brush" made of long horsehair, which is highly effective in removing dust. To emphasize the vintage feel, there may be slight irregularities in stitching, variations in fabric color or texture due to processing, and uneven coloring. Please understand that these are part of the product's charm. Also, product specifications (stitching, parts, color, size, etc.) are subject to change without notice. We hope you enjoy the product with the understanding of the above points. ![]() |
