 Loggers are men who work in the deep mountains, felling giant trees with chainsaws, milling them, and transporting them down the mountains with heavy machinery. Red Wing, which had been designing specialized shoes for various workers early on, developed the base for logger boots in the early 1940s. These are heavy-duty work boots, featuring thick leather uppers that lace up to the calves to protect the ankles, steel toes to protect the toes from accidents like falling logs, large out-pockets to secure the large heel counter that encloses the heel, and a curved heel that provides traction when descending mountain slopes. Logger boots are clearly over-engineered for city wear, but this particular logger boot is a modernized version of the #899, an 8-inch round toe boot that first featured a Vibram sole in 1961. It is designed to be easy to wear and coordinate in the city. While this logger boot is making its debut in Japan, the #4501 was previously released as a European exclusive model. It was revived at the request of the European market for Red Wing's 120th anniversary. Red Wing products can always be repaired at the manufacturer's headquarters. In addition to sole replacement, they offer repairs for restitching and reattaching hardware, and other possible repairs. Please contact our store for repair inquiries. It is believed to be the oldest last still used by Red Wing today. This last, with ample thickness at the toe, does not constrict the toes or cause pressure, so it is used in many models. It is also designed to enhance the fit around the arch of the foot.  ■Vibram TC4 Plus Lug The outsole features Vibram TC4 Plus Lug, which offers high slip resistance and improved comfort due to its soft sole. With a storm welt to further prevent rain from entering, an 8-inch height for secure ankle support, and a beautifully rounded toe, this boot is a high-spec option for fashion-oriented boots. A new logger boot with modern appeal has been born.  ■Black "Oil-Slick" Oil-Slick, as the name suggests, is leather rich in oil. While frequent oil application is not necessary, if the leather surface appears dry over time, lightly apply "Mink Oil" or "All Natural Leather Conditioner." After about 30 minutes, it is recommended to wipe off any remaining oil on the leather surface with a dry cloth. Additionally, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold on the boots. Please use a Red Wing "Brush" made of long horsehair, which is highly effective in removing dust.
