Established in 1894 by John Barbour, Barbour developed completely waterproof jackets for fishermen working in the British port town of South Shields. Since then, it has spread from the UK to the rest of the world, becoming a brand favored by the British Royal Family. Barbour jackets combine the finest Egyptian cotton with thornproof dressing (oil) to achieve both complete waterproofing and breathability. Even if the effect wears off, it can be restored by applying special oil. With proper maintenance, these jackets can be worn for many years.
