■DENIME Lot.224-66 66 MODEL Ishikawadai Denim Limited Vacuum Packing
Kurabo-made fabric, loved as the iconic material of Denime resurrected by Warehouse, has unfortunately been discontinued. This time, we are selling a memorial product made with the last Kurabo-made fabric. We have reproduced the limited edition model from the early Denime era, which was vacuum-packed unwashed. This series uses cotton made by re-utilizing "fallen cotton," which is waste generated during the yarn manufacturing process, to create "Ruffy" yarn. The Ruffy yarn made with ring spinning machines manufactured in the 1950s retains the slubby texture that occurred naturally at that time. "Ruffy" is a type of American cotton that Taisho Spinning has been handling for nearly half a century as the most naturally slubby yarn among all cottons worldwide. The artisans identify and blend cotton from fertile regions of America with highly elastic cotton from Mexico, and by blending in short fibers called "fallen cotton" that are usually removed during the spinning process, a natural slubby yarn with a mix of long and short fibers is created. To directly turn this "Ruffy" cotton's elasticity and strength into yarn, Taisho Spinning still operates Japan's oldest spinning machine. The Ishikawadai ring spinning machine, manufactured by Ishikawa Seisakusho in 1953, has a rotational speed one-third that of the latest spinning machines, making its production efficiency incomparable. Furthermore, while many modern spinning machines are computerized and operate with a single touch, the Ishikawadai requires constant gear changes, among other things, necessitating a lot of manual labor and frequent maintenance. However, on the other hand, it can produce natural yarns like slub yarn, possessing the characteristic of a low-tech machine, closer to human hands, that does not rely on computers for spinning. DENIME requested Taisho Spinning to use "Ruffy" cotton with the "Ishikawadai" to produce natural slub yarn. It is said to be the first time in the world that Ruffy has been made with an Ishikawadai ring spinning machine and woven into denim fabric. This slub yarn, carefully produced at the same pace, looks completely different from yarns made with modern spinning machines. The silhouette faithfully reproduces the expected "slightly shallow rise and tight straight" image. Due to being a limited model, we kindly ask that each customer purchase only one item, and returns or exchanges are not possible. Weight: 770g  A pioneering Japanese replica jeans brand founded in 1988 by designer Yoshiyuki Hayashi. After a transfer of ownership, it once almost disappeared, but was completely revived by WAREHOUSE in 2023.
