■DENIME Lot.221 BIG-E MODEL
![]() Model Height 175cm Weight 60kg Wearing 29 inches (non-wash) DENIME, which swept the Japanese fashion scene in the 1990s, overcame the risk of extinction and relaunched in 2023, updated with WAREHOUSE technology. Lot.221 recreates the specifications of the 1960s, commonly known as "Big E". The silhouette, which tapers neatly towards the hem, originated in the 1960s, when jeans gained popularity as casual wear. This BIGE model features such a basic and timeless silhouette. The texture of the paper tag characteristic of DENIME, the color scheme of the sewing thread, and even the piss name and buttons were all newly produced to reproduce the original design from the brand's inception. The fabric is common with Lot.221A, the XX model. It was developed jointly with Kurabo Industries Ltd. (a major textile product manufacturer) based on vintage recipes. By ring-spinning the same American cotton slub yarn with a specially selected indigo color and rope-dyeing it, followed by botanical dyeing, a deep, DENIME-like color is reproduced. Furthermore, in the refining process carried out before rope dyeing, WAREHOUSE's unique method of using room-temperature water results in strong, contrasting warp threads with dark dyed areas and well-preserved white core. The use of the old GL3 power loom also ensures that the characteristics of the slub yarn are directly reflected in the denim. ![]() A pioneer Japanese replica jeans brand founded in 1988 by designer Yoshiyuki Hayashi. After a transfer of ownership and other events, it almost disappeared but was fully revived by WAREHOUSE in 2023.
![]() The sewing width at the hidden rivet and the triangular sewing pattern at the top are also reproduced as they were then. While the belt loops on Lot.221A were sewn offset, they are sewn in the center here. The way the paper label is sewn is also distinctive. It is sewn together with the stitching on the upper part of the waistband, temporarily held, and then sewn into a rectangle. The denim is right-hand twill, with only the white selvage being reverse twill (left-hand twill). This was designed to create a strong "atari" (fade) effect on the selvage at the time. All sewing threads and ear lines use the same cotton thread as back then. ![]() Buttons and rivets have been updated in terms of material and shape. The fabric is common with Lot.221A. When vintage XX was analyzed during the development phase before DENIME's founding, the numerical value was 7x7 (warp x weft). However, aiming for higher quality and a thicker feel, 6x6 was deemed optimal.
