This horizontal-patterned shirt, emblematic of the Duke brand, was made famous by Duke himself, who wore it during media interviews and television appearances. Among the many palm tree patterns, few are as boldly depicted as this one, making it highly valuable as a vintage piece. ＜What is DUKE KAHANAMOKU SPECIAL EDITION?＞ Duke Kahanamoku, a Hawaiian hero and legendary waterman. A gold medalist in swimming, he established the sport of surfing and launched his eponymous brand in the 1930s, promoting Hawaiian culture to the world as his own ambassador. Inheriting his excellent sensibility, Sun Surf's special edition fully reproduces the charm of existing Duke brand vintage aloha shirts based on actual pieces. Title: "PALM TREE" Vintage: DUKE KAHANAMOKU Era: Early 1950s Material: Rayon Fujee Print: Discharge Print Design Pattern: Horizontal Pattern ＜Material＞ Rayon Fujee A plain weave fabric made with filament rayon for the warp and spun rayon for the weft. It has the suppleness similar to Fuji silk and the unique texture of rayon. The fuzzy surface is also a characteristic of Fujee. ＜Print＞ Discharge Print A technique where light fabric is dyed, and then the color of the pattern area is removed with a discharge agent while simultaneously being dyed with other colors. Since it allows for combinations of vivid colors that contrast with a dark background color, it results in striking, bright colors. ＜Buttons＞ Mother-of-pearl buttons As the name suggests, buttons carved from shells.
