The most famous pineapple pattern, the Duke's Pineapple, was worn in the fighting scene of the movie "From Here to Eternity" (1953). It was a long-selling item at the time. ＜What is DUKE KAHANAMOKU SPECIAL EDITION?＞ Duke Kahanamoku, a Hawaiian hero and legendary waterman. A gold medalist in swimming, he established the sport of surfing and launched his eponymous brand in the 1930s, acting as his own advertiser to spread Hawaiian culture around the world. Inheriting his excellent sensibility, Sun Surf's special edition fully reproduces the charm of valuable vintage aloha shirts from the existing Duke brand. Title: "DUKE'S PINEAPPLE" Vintage: DUKE KAHANAMOKU Era: Early 1950s Material: Rayon Fujee Print: Discharge Print Design Pattern: All-over pattern ＜Material＞ Rayon Fujee A plain-weave fabric using filament rayon for the warp and spun rayon for the weft. It possesses the suppleness similar to Fuji silk and the unique texture of rayon. The fuzzy surface is also a characteristic of Fujee. ＜Print＞ Discharge Print A technique where a light-colored fabric is piece-dyed, and then the color in the patterned areas is removed using a discharge agent and simultaneously dyed with other colors. This allows for a combination of dark ground colors and contrasting bright colors, resulting in vibrant coloration. ＜Buttons＞ Mother-of-pearl buttons As the name suggests, these buttons are carved from shells.
