■DARTISAN Studio D'Artisan STUDIO D'ARTISAN 16oz War Denim Jacket D4677-LG [Spring/Summer 2026 New Release]
![]() In the early 1940s, during World War II, the United States needed to concentrate national resources on the war effort. As part of this, the Wartime Production Board introduced strict regulations on the manufacturing of civilian consumer goods, including clothing. In particular, cotton and metal parts (rivets, buttons, etc.) used in clothing were prioritized for military use, and workwear in general, including jeans and denim jackets, was significantly affected. Under the board's guidance, details considered luxurious were thoroughly eliminated, and specifications were changed, such as replacing manufacturer-specific tack buttons with off-the-shelf ones, reducing the number of front tack buttons from five to four, and omitting chest pocket flaps and buttons. As a result, each part of the denim jacket was greatly simplified to wartime specifications, transforming into a rugged, utilitarian design. In addition, at the time, many skilled sewing workers were mobilized for military production, and it was common for inexperienced workers to be assigned to workwear sewing sites. Consequently, the quality of sewing was rough, and uneven stitching and distortions were not uncommon, but even re-sewing was restricted, so these items were shipped as products as they were. Based on this wartime context, we meticulously reproduced the rough and crude sewing specifications and simplified details of the time. While intentionally reproducing unbalanced stitching and "distortions" in specifications, we incorporated the dull indigo blue hue reminiscent of oxidation and the characteristic rough texture of the time into the 16.0oz selvedge denim prepared specifically for this denim jacket. Iron laurel buttons are used for the tack buttons, which will naturally rust with age. Furthermore, the popular "T-back" detail, which is a fabric splice on the back that was originally only for larger sizes due to fabric width limitations, is adopted for all sizes, so you can enjoy the wartime model details in your perfect size. Please enjoy the "Wartime Model" with D'ARTISAN's unique interpretation. Fabric thickness: 16oz Style: 1st type Weight: 1140g ![]() Studio D'Artisan, founded in 1979, carries the meaning of "artisan workshop" in its name. At that time, the concept of making jeans, now known as vintage replicas, hardly existed in the Japanese jeans market. It is a pioneering brand that established the foundation for craftsmanship, pursuing the dream of reproducing the essence of jeans themselves amidst the efficiency driven by mass production.

Regarding the Product Many of our products are designed based on vintage items. To emphasize the authentic feel, there may be slight sewing discrepancies, fabric color variations, textures due to processing, or uneven coloring, but please understand these as part of the product's charm. Additionally, product specifications (sewing, parts, colors, sizes, etc.) may change without prior notice. We hope you will enjoy the product with an understanding of the above points. |
