JELADO CM43 Herringbone Twill Field Jacket CT03443
After several years, we are reintroducing the M-43 type jacket. This time, it's made from the same herringbone twill as the original.
The M-43 was developed and officially adopted in 1941 at the request of President Roosevelt to improve the image of the military among young people and to increase enlistment.
It is said that some soldiers found the old blue denim uniforms to be of poor quality and uncomfortable to wear.
Therefore, it was decided to adopt HBT (herringbone twill) fabric, which had been used by the Air Force since 1939.
This new uniform was initially intended for training and general duties,
but was later used as combat uniform in tropical climates. Due to its excellent usability and reputation,
production continued, and specifications were revised a total of 5 times to add new size variations and improve productivity,
as well as for simplification and convenience. With the Normandy landings (D-Day) on March 12, 1943, approximately a year away,
the U.S. military was concerned about the use of poison gas during the landings,
so the "D-type" M-43 specification was formulated and produced during the fourth specification change.
The fabric is a solid, two-tone herringbone twill.
The herringbone weave is made robust with clear ridges by varying the twist of the yarn.
The dyeing is done with vat dyes, and as it is worn, the color fades, allowing for a vintage-like aging effect.
Instead of 13-star buttons, iron laurel leaf buttons are used, and the domed button feet enhance the atmosphere.
Additionally, by omitting the gas flap, the jacket maintains a neat appearance even when worn open without buttons.
Since the fabric is vat-dyed, it fades with wear and washing, allowing for a beautiful aging effect.
