The AN-J-3A and AN6552 were developed as successor models to the M-422A used by the US Navy.
Initially, they were intended for common use with the Army Air Corps, so "US" was marked on the back of the collar.
However, in reality, they were almost exclusively adopted by the Navy, and the Army Air Corps replaced this type with the B-10, an intermediate cotton flight jacket.
This AN-J-3A is a model delivered in 1946 by Willis & Geiger, which boasted four deliveries of the preceding M-422 series.
Willis & Geiger, a company stable in both technology and productivity, also achieved three deliveries in the AN-J-3A series.
Normally, the pocket flaps of the G-1 are sewn together with the top flap folded back and the bottom flap, but a distinctive feature of this model is that the bottom flap is cut and then sewn.
The history of the G-1 series, representative of Navy jackets, is long, and the G-1 continues to be issued today.
While the main material for the G-1 is originally goatskin, this particular lot is the only one in the long history of the G-1 that uses horsehide, making its rarity self-evident.

Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprise, which owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with military items dates back to its predecessor, Kosho Shokai, when it supplied souvenir jackets (such as sukajan) to US bases. In 1993, it released its first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear it has faithfully reproduced, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly crafted.
