 Sweatshirts evolved from wool knit material to cotton material with loop-backed fleece, becoming "sweat-absorbing shirts" and daily wear for Americans. The military and military academies, whose daily routine involved rigorous training, quickly took notice, and the sweatshirts began to be sold at base commissaries across the United States. The material is a unique flexible fabric, woven with an uneven tension on a cylindrical loop-wheeling machine, just like in those days.
