 Sweatshirts evolved from wool knit material to cotton material with looped fleece lining, becoming "sweat-absorbing shirts" for daily wear by Americans. The military and military academies, for whom hard training was a daily routine, quickly took notice, and they became available at base stores scattered across the United States. The material is woven on a cylindrical hanging knitting machine with uneven tension, just like in those days, giving it a unique flexibility. The seams are made with a four-needle flat seamer suitable for underwear, and the V-shaped gusset is sewn with ribbed material placed on the body, commonly known as a "pasted V" specification. The company has a long history with the military, having supplied souvenir jackets (such as sukajan) to US military bases during its predecessor company, Kosho Shokai.
