The Type C-2 aviator sweater was adopted by the US Army Air Force in the early 1940s. It has a tight silhouette because it was intended to be worn as an inner layer for warmth under the A-2 flight jacket. Originally made of wool knit, but since it is made of highly dense and hard-knitted 16-count cotton double yarn, it also offers excellent warmth, and its washable cotton material is an attractive feature.  Buzz Rickson's is a military brand of Toyo Enterprise, which owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with the military is long-standing, with roots dating back to the Koushouji era, its predecessor, when it supplied souvenir jackets (such as Sukajan) to US military bases. In 1993, the company released its first flight jacket.
