■BUZZ RICKSON'S BR42529 / TROUSERS, SHELL, FIELD, M-1951 SHORT LENGTH
Field trousers adopted by the U.S. Army in 1951, made from cotton sateen fabric with the reverse side used. Around this time, the Army adopted the M-51 series layered system as cold-weather combat uniform. Soldiers wore wool field shirts and field trousers over their undershirts and drawers (long johns), and then cotton field jackets and field pants over those. All M-51 items were designed for cold-weather wear, emphasizing a loose fit to trap body heat and block out cold air. The cord loops inside the waist are details for attaching the metal hooks at the ends of suspenders. Weight: 980g  Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprises, which also owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with the military is long-standing, with roots in supplying souvenir jackets (such as Sukajan) and other items to US military bases during the era of its predecessor, Kosho Co. In 1993, they released their first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear they have successively reproduced, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly crafted.
