In the 1960s, the US military procurement headquarters in Japan chose to procure camouflage uniforms in Japan. This was because Japan possessed advanced printing technology and
fast production capabilities, and was also superior in terms of cost. Since the patterns were left to the discretion of factories across Japan,
this led to the birth of countless variations of tiger stripe patterns. Many early tiger stripe patterns were made in Japan, but some fabrics were sent to Okinawa for sewing,
and during the latter half of the Vietnam War, they were also manufactured in Thailand and around Vietnam.

Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprise, which owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with the military dates back to its predecessor, Kosho Co., Ltd., which supplied products such as souvenir jackets (e.g., sukajan) to US military bases. In 1993, the company released its first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear it has reproduced has been perfected, just like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear.
