 This shirt is modeled after a bowling shirt manufactured in the 1950s. The embroidery on the back indicates that the original wearer was a crew member of the USS John Rodgers (DD-574), a U.S. Navy destroyer commissioned during World War II. After the end of World War II, the wearer was a member of the Veterans Administration's Hawaii branch No. 2432, and an official Veterans Administration patch shines on the left sleeve. The material is an original hopsack fabric woven with 80% rayon and 20% linen, analyzed from actual vintage items. The intricate chain embroidery and swing embroidery on the back tell the story of a bygone era.
