The 5th Bomb Squadron "Bomber Barons," formed in 1918, is the oldest bomb squadron in U.S. Air Force history.
Before World War II, it was stationed in Hawaii and engaged in training and maneuvers with the Army and Navy.
In 1935, during the eruption of Mauna Loa volcano, the squadron diverted lava from the city by dropping bombs around the volcano, saving the citizens of Hilo, Hawaii.
The 31st Bomb Squadron boasts 40 missions with B-17 and B-24 bombers.
The "Lady Luck" painted on the back is a playful and stylish pun combining "Ready Luck" (meaning to attract good fortune) with "Lady."
Although the jacket is an Army field jacket, regulations were relaxed during wartime, and it was occasionally worn by airmen.

Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprise, which also owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's connection to the military is long-standing, with its predecessor, Kosho Shokai, supplying souvenir jackets (such as sukajan) to US military bases. In 1993, they released their first flight jacket. Since then, their meticulously reproduced military wear, much like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly executed.
