The formal name of this flight jacket, commonly referred to as WEP, is J-WFS (Jacket, Winter, Flying Suit), and
the reason it's called WEP is because it's from the uniform of the "Naval Weapons" Bureau.

WEP is a winter suit jacket adopted by the US Navy from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s. Since it was designed to be worn with trousers from the beginning of its development, the jacket lining has
a tab for connecting with the trousers. There are four types of WEP specifications, and
the final type is spec number MIL-S-18342C, commonly known as type C.
Type C was established by the Naval Weapons Bureau in 1966 and produced between 1967 and 1973.
The color of the early WEP was a slightly light leaf green, but type C is a strong greenish
olive green. A distinctive feature is that the cuffs are cut in a V-shape, which is a significant model change from the previous type.

Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprise, which also owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with the military is long-standing, with its predecessor company, Minato Shokai, supplying souvenir jackets (such as Sukajan) to US military bases. In 1993, it launched its first flight jacket. Since then, the restored military wear, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly crafted.
