 Model Height: 175cm Weight: 62kg Wearing size 38 In the early days of aviation, the adventurers of the sky expressed their originality in their airplanes and flight suits. As those who dreamed of the sky sought to fly higher and faster, the need for flight attire grew. Knee-length leather coats with double-breasted fronts that covered the waist were manufactured, but as aircraft evolved and became more airtight, the heavy coats gave way to the A-1, a shorter, waist-length jacket. The A-1, adopted before zippers became practical, has a very appealing classical appearance with its button-front closure. The stand-up collar ribs, which provide extra warmth, also contribute to its vintage look. Although originally made of leather, this version uses wool to enhance warmth and mobility. ＜AVIATION ASSOCIATES＞ From the 1920s to the 1940s, various flight suits incorporating military specifications were also sold commercially to civilians. Analyzing old photographic records from the war, it's rare to see pilots wearing these commercial jackets, which indicates that they actually flew. Normally, wearing jackets other than government-issued ones was, of course, unauthorized, but it can be said that this is typical of how regulations were relaxed during wartime. The main difference between government-issued and commercial products was in design and material usage, with colors often conforming to government-issued items. Especially in terms of exterior design, many jackets were based on military-issued items with added arrangements, giving them a very classic and attractive impression. Aviation Associates are the phantom jackets that Buzz Rickson's, a military contractor at the time, released for civilian use. Buzz Rickson's is a military brand belonging to Toyo Enterprises, which also owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company has a long history with military goods, dating back to its predecessor, Port Trading Company, which supplied souvenir jackets (such as sukajan) to US military bases. In 1993, the company released its first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear it has faithfully reproduced, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, has been nothing short of perfection.
