■Buzz Rickson's BR15563 / Type L-2B H-TYPE BUZZ RICKSON MFG. CO., INC.
The L-2B flight jacket for light zone use can be broadly categorized into four types based on material and detail characteristics: early, mid, late, and final. The early model, with MIL-J-7448C military specifications, had matching outer shell and lining colors and was produced until 1960. The mid-model, produced until 1964, included specifications MIL-J-7448D and MIL-J-7448E. From this mid-model onwards, the lining color changed to rescue orange, and it became reversible. This improvement was made to facilitate discovery by rescue aircraft during an emergency landing. The late model, with specifications from MIL-J-7448F to MIL-J-7448H, showed changes in its appearance. The epaulets, pocket flaps, and zipper-end protective flaps, which had been carried over from the early model, were eliminated. In the final model, MIL-J-7448J, only the pocket flaps were reinstated. 【L-2B】 The Type L-2B is the third model in the L-2 series, and it could be called the definitive flight jacket for light zones, adopted from the mid-1950s for a long period until the CWU-36/P was adopted in the 1970s. The biggest change from the L-2A was the body color; after the Korean War, the USAF (U.S. Air Force) changed the color of flight jackets from the previous Air Force Blue to the newly designated color of Sage Green. In addition, the size indication was changed from inches to S, M, L, and the size specifications were also revised, resulting in an overall looser fit. Furthermore, the organization of the outer nylon material was changed, and the lining material transitioned from wool nylon to wool rayon. Early L-2B models had a sage green lining color, but from the mid-period onwards, an orange rescue color was adopted. Weight: 860g ![]() Buzz Rickson's is a military brand from Toyo Enterprise, which owns vintage American casual brands such as Sugar Cane and Sun Surf. The company's relationship with military items is long-standing; its predecessor, Kosho Shokai, supplied items such as souvenir jackets (Sukajan, etc.) to U.S. military bases. In 1993, they released their first flight jacket. Since then, the military wear they've successively reproduced, like Sun Surf's Hawaiian shirts and Sugar Cane's denim wear, are all perfectly crafted. ![]() ![]()
